Researchers Converge In Ibadan To Find Solution To Food Crisis In Africa

Academicians and Researchers including members of International Association of Research Scholars and Fellow (IARSAF), last week organised a four-day symposium on food technology, production and Agro-business in Africa.

The event, which is themed: “Sustainable Graduate Research for Transformation of Africa’s Food and Industrial Utilization.” held from April 16- 19 at the conference hall of the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture, IITA, Ibadan
In his welcome address, President of the Association Adegboyega Taofeek Tope, said the   symposium is a platform for great scholars from different part field to exchange ideas with a view to motivating the minds of participants through presentation of research findings, solutions, and advancement in Agricultural science with the aim of solving agricultural problems, especially reducing hunger and poverty to zero level.

He said further that the 21st edition of the symposium, which covers three key areas including; Academic, Research and Industry also afforded the participants of having a great mentor-mentee session as well as farmer’s clinic day.

The chairman   of the opening ceremony, Dr Akin Fagbemi, in his opening speech, said the essence of the annual event is to review the development on food production and formulate new policies through which, issues related to food crisis is solved.
