Tinubu Meets British High Commissioner In Abuja

The National leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has met with the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing. This was disclosed in a tweet by Tinubu who shared photos of the meeting in Abuja. The commissioner was accompanied by her deputy, Harriet Thompson. The national leader however did not disclose the purpose of the meeting. “Meeting with Catriona Laing, the new British High Commissioner to Nigeria, in the company of the Deputy High Commissioner, Harriet Thompson, today in Abuja,” he said. The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has been adjudged the best university in the South-West, while its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape, the best VC in the zone. The Imo State Task Force on Recovery of Government Assets has alleged that the immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, and members of his family carted away 67 vehicles belonging to the state. According to the chairman of the force, Jasper Ndubuaku, the ex-governor’s aide-de-camp also left with five vehicles while his driver went home with one Prado Jeep. Ndubuaku said other items carted away from government house, ministries and parastatals included generating sets, chairs, television sets, kitchen utensils, beddings and cutleries all valued at over N50 billion. “The looting spree was unprecedented. Seven Dead As Suspected Herdsmen Attack Kogi Community

Suspected herdsmen have attacked Koto-Karfe, Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi state, killing no fewer than seven people. According to a source, the attack took place in the early hours of Tuesday, when the herdsmen launched two separate surprise attacks from the surrounding hills. The source added that the attackers divided themselves for the coordinated attack on two communities. Three people reportedly died on the spot in the attack which lasted hours. The suspected herdsmen in their numbers were said to have been armed with AK47 rifles and other dangerous weapons. No lesser than twelve people have been confirmed injured after a three-storey building under construction collapsed in Lagos State on Wednesday night. The incident which saw a three-storey building under construction collapsed into rubbles, occurred at about midnight in Fagba area of the state. An Ejigbo magistrate court has sentenced one Morufu Wasiu to six months imprisonment for stealing yoghurt and other items. 2019 UTME: JAMB Releases 3,736 Candidates Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had on Wednesday 26 June 2019 released the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results of 3,736 candidates after the board had invited them to come for physical verification and prove that they were not involved in malpractices. Reports gathered states the affected candidates had been asked to show up on Monday 17 June 2019 at JAMB offices in Abuja, Delta, Gombe, Oyo, Kwara, Kaduna, Lagos and Imo where they were interviewed by the Intelligence Committee of the Board. However, four candidates were discovered by the board to indulged in malpractices ranging from inflating their scores to cheating and therefore had their results withdrawn. A mum bought her son a McDonald’s Happy Meal, filled his rucksack with rocks and tied their hands together before jumping into a reservoir, an inquest heard. Emma Sillent, 41, drove five-year-old Jenson Spellman to a deserted spot in Derbyshire before ending their lives in a murder-suicide. The social worker left a note in her car which made it clear she wanted to end her own life but couldn’t bear to leave her son behind.  Jenson was found ‘tied to her by his wrist’, Chesterfield Coroner’s Court heard. Emma had been struggling with depression for years and had recently suffered three miscarriages, the hearing was told. Nollywood writer, actor and director, Kagho Harley Akpor, has reportedly drowned in a pool at a hotel in Asaba, Delta State. Reports gathered reveals Akpor was at a location shooting a movie with other crew members before he slipped into the pool. Sources also revealed the director might have drowned as a result of lack of swimming skills, adding that as of the time he was rescued from the swimming pool, it was already too late. Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeleke Adeyinka said he could not give details. How Prophet Killed, Buried Female Undergraduate In Lagos

The Lagos state police command has arrested a 72-year-old prophet of Celestial Church of Christ in Ipaja area of Lagos state, Jacob Farinmade, for allegedly killing a female undergraduate, Bunmi, whom he impregnated. Bunmi was said to be a student of Babcock university until 2014 when she was rusticated, her father then took her to her mother, Derayo Omisibi’s house to stay for a while. Worried about the state of her daughter, Derayo sought spiritual help, after which she took Bunmi to the cleric for spiritual cleansing. According to reports, the cleaning required that Bunmi stayed in the church premises were the clergyman and his over 10 wives also reside. Sources said the cleric took advantage of Bunmi’s stay in his church to lure her to bed and impregnated her by keeping her in his church for the duration of her pregnancy and stopped her from receiving any ante-natal care.
