Ogun State Enhances Air Safety with New Aerodrome Lighting System

The Ogun State Government has taken a significant step towards improving aviation infrastructure with the installation of state-of-the-art aerodrome lighting at a strategic airfield in the state. 



This development marks a crucial upgrade aimed at facilitating safer night operations and adverse weather landings for aircraft.  


Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration oversaw the installation of the precision approach path indicator (PAPI) lights, runway edge lights, and other navigational aids at the aerodrome located along the Lagos-Ibadan corridor. The new lighting system transforms the facility into a 24-hour operational hub, capable of supporting increased air traffic and emergency operations.  


Aviation experts highlight that this infrastructure improvement will significantly reduce weather-related flight diversions that previously cost businesses substantial losses. The lighting system meets International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, positioning the aerodrome for potential designation as an alternate landing site for Murtala Muhammed International Airport during emergencies.  


Local business leaders have welcomed the development, noting its potential to boost economic activities in the state's industrial zones. "This upgrade reduces our logistics headaches considerably," remarked the chairman of Ogun State's Manufacturers Association. "We can now plan for timely delivery of goods without worrying about daylight limitations."  


The state government has simultaneously commenced training programs for local technicians to maintain the advanced lighting systems, creating new skilled employment opportunities. Transportation Commissioner Engr. Ade Akinsanya confirmed plans to extend the lighting project to other airstrips across the state as part of Ogun's multimodal transport masterplan.  


This aviation infrastructure investment comes as Ogun positions itself as Nigeria's emerging industrial and logistics hub, with several multinational corporations establishing operations in the state. The improved aerodrome capabilities are expected to complement ongoing road and rail projects designed to enhance regional connectivity.  


While aviation authorities continue final certification processes, the successful installation demonstrates Ogun State's commitment to developing transport infrastructure that meets international standards, potentially attracting more aviation-related investments to the region.

 A former President of Ghana, Mr. John Mahama arrived on Sunday for the Lagos State Tourism Summit. The Summit scheduled held ‪Monday, 16th April‬ at Eko Hotel and Suites. Former President Mahama, who was the Special Guest of Honour, and expected to deliver a keynote address and share experiences on tourism development and long-term planning instruments among other issues. Internet Fraudster Runs Mad In Lekki, Lagos. Goes Unclad (Video)

A video clip has made it’s way to social media, showing an alleged  Yahoo boy  who seems to have  run mad  for unknown reasons. According to the post, whatever the young man got involved in to get rich, must have been aided by charms which seem to be backfiring.If the comments heard in the background are to be believed, the young man is allegedly known to be an Internet fraudster. The video clip shows the young man strip Unclad along a road in Lekki phase one while wondering around aimlessly.
