According to Legit.ng, Odion Ighalo has described their defeat to Algeria as the toughest match they had ever played on this edition of the AFCON. He described the Desert Foxes as their toughest opponents. The defeat was a severe blow to the team.

"It was a difficult game and we were unlucky at the last minute, second half we really played well and we didn't deserve what we got today. "This is football, they got a free kick in the last minute and they scored and the game finished, so we have to learn from our mistake ahead of the third place game. "I think every match we have played inn this AFCON was tough, but this was tougher because Algeria are a good side, they have played really well. Good luck to them they won today.
"I want to tell them we are sorry, we gave out best but it was not just enough, we conceded a last minute goal but we have to keep on working hard as we have a third place game on the 17th and we hope to win that.

The match was also seen as a very tough match by Ahmed Musa the skipper of the Super Eagles.  The Algerian’s became a tough nut they couldn’t crack. Ahmed Musa was said to have given his own view of their match against Algeria.

"The match was very difficult as you can see it was at the end of the game that we lost, but we don't have to give up. "We have a young crop of players in the team and we just have to put our heads up ahead of the next game.
"I think the game against Cameroon was a difficult game and today we lost but there is nothing, that has gone by and that's football.
"There was nothing we could have done, they were lucky to get the last minute goal and i wish them all the best in the final.

We hope to see the Super Eagles find their form again after suffering this defeat. The third place is better than nothing. Tomorrow Wednesday would determine who goes home empty-handed.
