AFCON: I Am Not In a Hurry. Third Place and Growth Is Our Focus For Now- Gernot Rohr
The coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Gernot Rohr has expressed his opinion that he is not in a hurry to make a decision concerning his future as the manager of the Super Eagles. This came after the heavy blow defeat at the semifinal which the Super Eagles suffered in the hands of the Desert Foxes.

A lot of people would have thought that Rohr’s next
plan would be an exit since he couldn’t deliver with the Super Eagles. The
German tactician still has a year left on his current deal. He has spoken that
he would wait till after the third-place match against Tunisia on Wednesday
before talking about his future with the Super Eagles.
"There is no
hurry because we want to finish third now. We will take a look at my overall
results after the third place match," Rohr told BBC Sport. "I'm still
under contract for another year, so we will see what is decided together.
"There are positives for us to look at on this journey, but after this
final game we can think and then talk about the future." The Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF) have put their weight behind Rohr to remain coach of
the Nigerian team. Rohr's future has been under speculation for some time
despite leading the three-time African champions to their first AFCON tournament since 2013.
According to Legit.ng, he expressed that his focus
is on the progress of the Super Eagles and the team’s preparation for the 2022 World Cup in
Qatar.
"The team is already on a good level. After
the World Cup, we tried to rejuvenate the team," he added. "When
you're playing in the semi-final of this big tournament you are already at a
very good level. "I also want to see the players who couldn't play in this
tournament yet, to finally have a team where everybody played." Rohr took
charge the Nigerian national team in August 2016 and qualified the Super Eagles
to the 2018 World Cup in Russia where they failed to make it past the group
stage.
